This special accessory plug lead for use with AccuMates and OptiMate III allows connection to standard car cigarette lighter sockets and also small accessory sockets fitted to some BMW, Triumph & Honda motorcycles by removing the detachable red sleeve.
It allows easy connection of an AccuMate (or OptiMate III) to a car's cigarette lighter socket or a motorcycle's accessory socket.
Will not work with OptiMate1 or 2 (Pre- sept.2000)
Because of OptiMate's huge success over the past decade, there has been a deluge of copycat imitators. It is worth mentioning that OptiMate is unique and that all imitations to date are seriously flawed in one way or the other. Some have lots of lights and look very impressive, but when you look what it actually does by way of charging the battery, the picture isn't so good. Batteries can be overcharged to the point of damage, or undercharged so they do not work. Attempts to copy OptiMate’s recovery features haven’t bothered to include the built-in safety features that prevent OptiMate damaging a bike’s electronics. Battery "testing" can show a totally discharged battery to be good and vice-versa. All of the imitators without exception cannot recover a sulphated battery, despite what they say on the box. How can they get away with this, you may well ask. Well, read the words carefully and you will see claims like "recovers deep-discharged batteries" or in one case, just ""recovers discharged batteries". The problem is that there is no exact specification for what a "deep-discharged battery" actually is so they get away with it. We now use the term "sulphated battery" to try and distinguish between the truth and these dubious sales claims, but even that is not an exact state.
All our Optimate and Accumate Products are Official UK Product.
